Uma entrevista ao líder dos The Velvet Underground, o falecido Lou Reed, datada de Março de 1987, com o executor musical Joe Smith foi recentemente descoberta pela PBS, e agora animada para as series da Blank On Blank. Em entrevista, Lou Reed  avançou, “I never liked the Beatles”;”I thought they were garbage. If you say, ‘Who did you like?’ I liked nobody”.

Mais à frente, o músico revela como se manteve fora do mainstream, eventualmente trabalhar com os Velvet para “elevate the rock’n’roll song and take it where it hadn’t been taken before”.

Ainda em formato crítico perante as grandes bandas da sua era, Lou Reed afirmou: “From my point of view … the other stuff couldn’t come up to our ankles, not up to my kneecap, not up to my ankles, the level we were on, compared to everyone else. I mean they were just painfully stupid and pretentious, and when they did try to get, in quotes, ‘arty,’ it was worse than stupid rock & roll. What I mean by ‘stupid,’ I mean, like, the Doors” .

Toda a entrevista pode ser ouvida, e também visualizada, em formato animação, abaixo.
