MAXIM is a name that will sound as news to a lot of people – in fact, the 19-year-old Parisian singer/rapper is still a fresh face on the hip-hop and R&B scene, but as soon as you start listening to his tracks, you easily get why you should have heard about him sooner.

He first started making songs at the tender age of 16 and his Soundcloud page holds hits dating to 2016. His 2017 release, Liquor Stories, is a 4 track EP packed with smooth beats merging soul, R&B and hip-hop in a seamless manner, sitting somewhere in between the suave feelings of James Blake and Justin Timberlake and the delivery of Denzel Curry.

“White Bass”, his new song, however, mingle closer with a jazzier approach to contemporary R&B, with a sound close to what you could expect from Frank Ocean circa his groundbreaking channel ORANGE. The production and mixing were handled by B$C who creates the ideal syncopated landscapes that further elevate the voice of MAXIM. The video, a national debut, is directed by Maxime Kathari and produced by Mathieu Cacheux and features the laidback ostentation of the rising star with a strong spirit of union and recollection/homage for his background. In it, we travel with the young Parisian artist, his music and his moves through lush yet relaxing and realistic shots between Paris and Los Angeles, two cities that hold, such as MAXIM, sophistication, and simplicity.
