Bobby Conn é um vocalista, compositor e performer de Chicago, Illinois. O artista retirou-se da cena No Wave de Chicago em meados dos anos 90 mas rapidamente desenvolveu uma reputação de performances extravagantemente excessivas, letras satiricamente políticas e art rock experimental que encontra a sua sustentação na soul.
Bobby conta já no seu percurso artístico com seis trabalhos de estúdio, tendo editado em 1997 o seu ábum de estreia homónimo. O seu último disco, Recovery, surgiu oito anos após Macaroni (2012) e foi editado no passado dia 20 de março pela editora alemã Tapete Records. Musicalmente, Recovery é uma colaboração com a sua parceira Monica BouBou, no violino e vocais, e a sua superbanda formada pelo baterista Josh Johannpeter, baixista Jim “Dallas” Cooper, teclista Billie Howard, guitarrista Devin Davis e DJ e designer de som Adam “DJ LeDeuce” Greuel.

What’s the point of recovery if we were never really healthy to begin with? I started working on this record about four years ago, thinking of the American obsession with self-help, self-care, and self-empowerment as a cruel and cheap substitute for helping each other. It’s a concept that rewards those that have the money to help themselves, and blames those that don’t for not trying hard enough. Then there were some elections. Now there is a narrative of “recovering” our stronger, bolder, racially pure, cultural and economic glory days. And then some of my friends started getting sick, or dying or committed suicide. So it got real. But don’t worry – the record doesn’t sound depressing.
